FAQs

Scheduling & Location

  • I offer both virtual and in-person sessions depending on your needs and preferences:

    • Virtual sessions: Monday-Wednesday, 10am-5pm and 7pm-9pm

    • In-person sessions: Sundays, 11am-5pm at my Beverly Hills office

    • Consultations: Available Thursdays

    • Future locations: Saturday sessions at my Pasadena office may become available based on growing interest in that area

  • Beverly Hills Office: Available for Sunday in-person sessions. Parking information and directions will be provided upon scheduling.

Pasadena Office: May become available for Saturday sessions based on client demand.

Both locations are part of a professional office network that provides private, comfortable spaces for therapy.

  • Session frequency is tailored to your specific needs and goals. Most clients benefit from:

    • Weekly sessions: Recommended for establishing momentum and deeper work

    • Biweekly sessions: May work for maintenance or specific circumstances

We'll discuss what frequency feels most supportive during your consultation and can adjust as your needs change.

  • Therapy length varies greatly depending on your goals, concerns, and personal process. Some people find significant benefit in a few months, while others prefer longer-term work. During our sessions, we'll regularly check in about your progress and what feels most helpful. You're always in control of how long you continue.

Payment & Cancellation Policies

  • See our Sessions page for current rates and session lengths. Payment is collected in advance of scheduled sessions using a secure payment method on file. Payment details and policies will be reviewed during your consultation.

Note: Insurance clients follow different policies - see Insurance section below.

  • Sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid the full session fee. Rescheduling is treated as a cancellation due to limited weekly availability. In rare circumstances where I have an opening in the same week, rescheduling may be accommodated without a cancellation fee. Please arrive on time as sessions end at the scheduled time to respect other clients' appointments.

Note: Insurance clients follow different policies - see Insurance section below.

Insurance

I partner with several mental health platforms to offer services to insurance clients. These platforms handle all insurance billing, policies, and any billing questions - I provide the therapy services while they manage the insurance side entirely.

  • I maintain limited capacity for insurance clients as part of my commitment to making mental health care more accessible. I work with a few different platforms and take different insurance plans through each one, so space is limited. The best way to ensure I currently have capacity for your specific insurance is to contact me directly. Insurance sessions are available Monday-Wednesday, 10am-4pm (last session starts at 4pm).

  • Insurance typically covers individual therapy when there's a medical necessity. While I occasionally see couples where one partner's individual treatment benefits from joint sessions, traditional couples therapy (focused on relationship dynamics) is generally not covered by insurance and works best as self-pay to allow for the specialized approaches this work requires.

  • Your cost depends on your specific health plan's copay amount. You'll need to have a payment method on file, and your copay will be automatically charged after each session once insurance processes the claim. The platform handles all insurance billing directly.

  • The same 24-hour notice is required. Cancellation fees vary by platform based on their individual contracts, but I'll let you know the specific cancellation fee for your platform when we begin working together.

  • his is a common situation that can feel confusing. Insurance coverage for relationship work is complex and depends on several factors. For a detailed explanation of why insurance typically doesn't cover traditional couples therapy and what your actual options are, click here to read our comprehensive guide.

Getting Started

  • The process is straightforward:

    1. Schedule a consultation: Book a complimentary 15-minute conversation

    2. We connect: Discuss what brings you to therapy and whether we're a good fit

    3. Schedule your first session: If we decide to work together, we'll set up ongoing sessions

The consultation helps ensure we're well-matched before committing to ongoing work together.

  • Our 15-minute consultation is a space for mutual exploration. You can expect:

    • A chance to share what brings you to therapy

    • An opportunity to sense whether my approach feels like a good fit

    • Answers to any immediate questions about working together

    • No pressure - this is about finding the right therapeutic match

My goal is for you to leave with clarity about whether this feels like the right space to begin your healing journey.

  • Your first session will include some initial questions about your background, current concerns, and therapy goals - this helps me understand how to best support you. We'll also spend time getting to know each other and you'll get a feel for my approach. This is the beginning of our work together, and I'll continue learning about you in our ongoing sessions.

Communication

  • I typically respond to non-urgent messages within 48 hours (2 business days). This allows me to give thoughtful attention to your communication while maintaining healthy boundaries.

  • For crisis situations, please contact emergency services (911) or a crisis hotline rather than waiting for my response. If you're experiencing thoughts of self-harm, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) provides 24/7 support.

The plum blossom, a culturally significant symbol in Taiwan, blooms most beautifully in winter's cold—a reminder that growth often emerges from life's most challenging seasons. We have a song that says ‘plum blossom, plum blossom, the colder it gets, the more it blossoms,’ which speaks to this idea.
